Hello! My name is Emily Ferguson and I am currently studying Business Administration, concentrating in Marketing specifically. Growing up, my family moved around a lot, and I found my life lacking stability. It felt difficult to attach myself to long-term hobbies, as any progress and connections were continually uprooted, so I ended up always reading or writing. When I was around ten years old, I stumbled upon a method to tell stories for the consumption of other children, through the online content platform YouTube, and began to use this website to express my creativity and build a passion for videography. While managing this channel, I fostered skills in video editing, screen writing, and voice acting, constantly fueled by my endless supply of ideas and ambition to produce the best in child entertainment. With age, I grew out of this pursuit, but still thirsted for original and thought-provoking content, and started searching for an adult pathway in which I could create my own again. I began to explore the world of Cinema in my free time, analyzing and critiquing films of all genres for strengths and methods of success. I experimented with roles within Theater productions, tapping into a level of empathy and self-expression I had not known of before. I knew my presentation and communication skills needed fine-tuning, so I worked in Customer Service for over a year, in which I built up my problem-solving and knack for mediation. It was after these experiences, while attending school, that I learned of the field of Marketing and the variety of potential it could offer me. I realized that my favorite past times, involving out-of-the-box approaches and exciting ideas, could be valuable in the workforce; this pushed me to start studying Business and set myself on a trajectory into digital media once more. Currently, I am attracted to positions within Copy writing, Public Relations, and Content Marketing to name a few, but am still discovering where my talents would be most useful. I hope to grow and learn in content creation as I challenge myself in this field, and am open to trying new things. My top priority for my professional development is to build something new that at its lowest provides entertainment, and at its highest, forges a deeper meaning and connection with those experiencing the product, whether that be in web content, short film, or communication copy, I am and shall always be motivated by a fresh perspective that leaves an impact.
