The best career advice I have ever received is to remember that the best leaders are the ones who know when and how to bring in the right people to make things better – don’t think you can do it all or that you have to do it yourself. True success is measured by results; by setting a goal and executing on the plan. My professional career is defined by these ideas: set a clear goal and context, break down the steps necessary to achieve that goal, then get the right team to execute with focus and persistence. My success as a leader is based on the concept that my role is to help my team achieve our collective goal and inspire my team in the face of challenges and obstacles. I have put this philosophy into practice my entire life, being raised by a mother who was an organizer and a father who is a thinker. They taught me the importance of being intellectually curious yet maintaining focus on getting things done. With 15+ years of developing integrated marketing experiences, I’ve come to be recognized for building strong relationships at all levels within a company to get things done efficiently and harmoniously. My superpower is that I can see the positivity in anything. Which means that while we can be caught up in the small things we must recognize our efforts are something far more transcendent. Whether playing sports on a losing team, competing against a better-funded competitor or working on your own personal goals, ask yourself how did you play, how did you lead others and did you contribute to the overall goal? Ask yourself “Did you make a difference?”
