Soprano Emily Murdock is a versatile performer whose performances “resonate well with the audience.” (Opera News, 2010.) She has sung with PORTopera, Opera in the Ozarks, Boulder Opera Company, the Boulder Fringe Festival, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Opera Colorado, and Colorado Light Opera, and regularly performs with the Central City Opera Touring Artists. Emily is one half of the ensemble Liria Duo with pianist Sara Parkinson. Liria Duo released an album of songs by Libby Larsen in 2013 called Songs of Her Self. The duo spent three years working closely with the composer on this premiere recording. Emily has appeared as a soloist with several regional orchestral and choral organizations in the Rocky Mountains. She has also been successful in many multi-round competitions, singing in the National Semi-Finals of the NATS Artist Award recital competition, the National Finals of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition, and the Regional Round of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.While a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Emily sang many principal roles, including Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and Amor (Orfeo ed Euridice). Emily also shared the stage with the University of Colorado Orchestra as a winner of the Honors Concerto Competition. Emily earned her Master of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder and her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Flute Performance at the University of Montana. She is a native of Whitefish, Montana, and currently resides near Denver, Colorado, with her husband, pianist/coach/conductor Steven Aguiló-Arbues, and their young daughter.Find out more at www.emilymurdocksoprano.com.

Focusing on youth, families, and educators, I coordinate school and community performances across Colorado and Wyoming with Central City Opera's year-round performance troupe, the CCO Touring Artists. In addition to scheduling and contracting these performances, I also develop and perform in the programs, prepare comprehensive study guides for educators and families, and plan and execute a professional development workshop for educators and teaching artists. I also created the Central City Opera Podcast in 2016, interviewing singers, orchestra musicians, creative staff, and production personnel who are part of the Central City Opera summer festival productions and young artist program. I host and produce the podcast, editing the interviews myself, and I work with the CCO Marketing team to promote the episodes during the summer festival.

Teton Valley Ranch Camp is an outdoor camp that inspires girls and boys to become the best versions of themselves through outdoor adventures, teamwork, and play. I was a camp counselor for the same group of girls for five summers, leading them through their successive Adventure Groups. As campers age and come back summer after summer, Adventure Groups give kids more and more responsibility and overnight time out of camp in the form of backpacking trips and pack trips (horses). I was responsible for the safety and wellbeing of my campers, as well as fostering within them a sense of self worth, wonder, and an appreciation for the outdoors and what they can do in it.
