View my filmmaking portfolio at emilypot.comI’m a dabbler in a variety of fields across film and the arts, most recently graduating from Humber College’s Bachelor of Film and Media Production program and working as a Prop Associate at Pickle Props Shop.Born in Minnesota, raised in Niagara, and currently residing in Toronto, my love for film started early on with creating stop-motion animation videos with my American Girl dolls at the age of 9. Making theses videos was my introduction to the world of film and started my love for directing, cinematography and production design. As I grew older, I started to see the medium of film as a way to bring awareness and change to social issues I care deeply about, most notably disability justice. I have made several small films with my two younger sisters who have a rare disability. Growing up with them fuelled my passion for disability justice and led me to direct an upcoming film about the Ontario Disability Support Program and disability poverty. In my studies at Humber, I mainly focused on cinematography, graduating the program with five films under my belt. While in school I received the opportunity to shoot an interview with Wendy Crewson for Canada's Walk of Fame & NBCUniversal's Future Storytellers Project. The segment was screened during Cineplex's Pre-Show Entertainment and is featured on CWOF's website and social media. After graduating, I also shot my first film (as Director of Photography) outside of college funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and took inspiration from film-noir and 1930s horror films.
