In this roleI implemented documentation systems to closely monitor production and financial performance in the vessel department. I was responsible for coordinating the smooth flow of cargo for import and export operations at a 500-acre container terminal. I managed interactions with international shipping lines to gather vital data for vessel operations.I worked closely with our operational teams to fine-tune shift planning for optimal efficiency. Whenever operational challenges arose, I was quick to provide effective solutions. I also took the initiative to enhance the onboarding process for new hires in both the LA and Charlotte offices.In addition to these responsibilities, I played a crucial role in numerous Kaikaku Kaizen initiatives involving more than 40 individuals. These initiatives aimed at implementing new standard practices, resulting in significant enhancements to terminal KPIs. It's worth noting that during this time, I also managed an internal staff schedule, overseeing more than 20 people across four different departments.

In my role, I orchestrated vessel scheduling to optimize manning and equipment allocation for our current and future working vessels, proactively forecasting the next 2 months. I was responsible for designing effective yard strategies and vessel berthing plans, ensuring safe cargo storage and flow in accordance with our customers' expectations. I implemented lean principles to improve our operational and planning processes.Maintaining daily communication with customers and third-party agencies was a crucial part of my responsibilities. This involved coordinating vessel berthing, loading plans, cargo receiving allowances, and labor allocation. I regularly analyzed data sets to identify trends and adjusted allocations and berthing schedules as needed.I collaborated closely with stakeholders to facilitate timely cargo evacuation, manage equipment stock levels, and maintain a safe yard capacity. To ensure our capacity for evacuation matched stowage plans, I implemented countermeasures and actively sought opportunities to increase terminal throughput.

In this role, I analyzed terminal requirements and operational capabilities to develop the most efficient plan for inbound vessels, prioritizing productivity. I took charge of the dayside operation, leading a team of over 150 individuals for two record-breaking vessel calls in North America.I was responsible for promptly addressing unexpected operational crises, which played a crucial role in preventing significant production losses. To achieve our KPI goals, I utilized historical data and current operational capacities to forecast labor needs accurately.Additionally, I spearheaded the Vessel Ownership program and was entrusted with overseeing the terminal's largest vessel service. I implemented real-time solutions to swiftly address unforeseeable operational issues, ensuring production was not disrupted.
