About Emily Schwartz

Emily has devoted her professional life to serving non-profit organizations. In addition to her most recent role at UJA, the largest local philanthropy in the world, she has served in leadership positions with The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, Operation Gratitude, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Foundation Fighting Blindness and Fund for the Public Interest Research Group. With experienced focus on strategic planning and operational fundraising development, she has led and worked on nationwide fundraising campaigns including partnerships with 84 of the Fortune 100 companies, encompassing hundreds of thousands of people and raising more than $500 million over the span of her career. Emily proudly serves on the Board of Directors of Operation Gratitude, providing opportunities for the American people to express their gratitude and show our Military and first responders that what they do matters. A fierce advocate for empowering women, Emily also serves on the Board of Studio IX, a nonprofit organization that helps emerging filmmakers break into the industry and build a sustainable career. A recent breast cancer survivor, Emily serves on the Peeps Board of The Chick Mission, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women facing cancer to preserve their fertility. She is also active with several other breast cancer-related organizations including Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Sharsheret, and The Breasties. Emily is passionate about urging women to be their own healthcare advocates, and encouraging true partnership between patients and medical providers. Emily graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Women in Development, the Pacific Council on International Policy, the National Association of Professional Women, and an alumna of the Rautenberg New Leaders Project.
