I am an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary, where I lead a research group focused on designing and developing innovative biomechatronic solutions for enhancing human mobility and performance. With over nine years of experience in robotic exoskeleton and prosthesis design, custom transmission design, biomechanics, mechatronics, and manufacturing, I have a proven track record of creating novel devices and systems that address real-world challenges and needs. My research has resulted in three international patents and multiple publications in prestigious journals and conferences, as well as recognition and awards from various organizations and institutions, such as the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Dean's Award, and the Design of Medical Devices Conference Student Design Showcase. My work has also been featured in the NOVA documentary 'Augmented', a permanent exhibit in the Boston Museum of Science, and a TED Talk by Hugh Herr. I am passionate about advancing the field of biomechatronics and contributing to the improvement of the quality of life and well-being of people with disabilities and impairments.
