The Conservation Corps is a summer internship. Two of my colleagues and I worked at the Riverhook Preserve in Upper Nyack. We removed 100 bags of invasive plants, including black swallow wort, mile-a-minute, and multiflora rose. We replaced invasive species with native species, primarily cranberries, and Virginia roses. Additionally, we constructed 20 deer cages to prevent foraging. I was taught first aid, tick prevention and removal, and how to educate the public on our cause.

I was taught First Aid, communication skills, and how to manage and prevent tick bites. Additionally, how to prevent poison ivy, bug bites, and snake bites. In coordination with the Rockland County Drainage Agency and three colleagues, we waded through 78 miles of streams, wrote 14 stream survey reports concerning RCDA projects, illicit discharges, and overall conditions of the streams.
