Dedicated lab technician in the Perrimon Laboratory at the Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School. Positioned in the drosophila RNAi Screening Center (DRSC) and on the Transgenic RNAi Project (TRiP). Maintained and transferred the lab's collection of publically available drosophila supply lines weekly, including the collection of CRISPERa transgenic supply. Performed quality control screenings, male DNA sequencing, and virgin collection, gene expression and crosses for genetic research in CRISPR/Cas9 technologies. Led a group testing the novel flySAM1.0, a potent system for Cas9-based transcriptional activation (CRISPRa) in drosophila in vivo which improves upon current scalability techniques. Unlike CRISPRa, its need for only one sgRNA, as opposed to two, makes it a cheaper, and faster option to target gene expression. Conducted toxicity/lethality experiments through crossing various lines to a ubiquitous Gal4 (actin-Gal4) in the absence of any sgRNA. FlySAM has since replaced previous CRISPRa strategies as the basis of a growing genome-wide transgenic over-expression resource at the Perrimon Lab since my experience working with it.

Interned at Crossroads Community Clubhouse, a voluntary support program open to those suffering from mental illness, and/or substance abuse and seeking guidance. Maintained a supporting role in conducting job searches and mock interviews with eager individuals looking to re-establish themselves into society through a productive outlet. Led group discussions in DRA meetings weekly and provided a safe environment for members to discuss individual struggles, and encouraged further health and wellness. Regulated meal time, and ensured that those who could not afford to eat, were provided a meal. Yearly, I assist in a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser to further support the Clubhouse and its service to the community.
