The Arts in Health Discipline at Baycrest employs a mandate of building, developing and overseeing program development and interprofessional education that use the arts as a vehicle to enable the individual voice and capture the lived experience of our clients. Responsibilities include: • Bridge the arts and health care by providing opportunities for artists to work within hospital, long term care, and the greater community.• Work collaboratively with internal & external stakeholders to establish frameworks for arts and health programs within the department of Culture & Arts.• Provide opportunities for the telling of stories through the use of artistic media including journals, oral discourse/storytelling circles, music, theatre, dance, movement, and visual arts. • Contribute to expanding Baycrest’s involvement in rigorous scientific research regarding the health implications of arts engagement and creativity on older adults. • Disseminate research findings to build capacity in broader community health settings serving older adults• Maintain ongoing evaluation of program service delivery by monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness in meeting clients’ needs.

Responsibilities include:• Works within and represents the Culture & Arts central team to coordinate site-wide, innovative programming to meet physical, cognitive, social, emotion, and spiritual domains in therapeutic programming.• Co-investigates and coordinators research initiatives for best practices to integrate arts-based programming and digital literacy for older adults with physical, cognitive, and/or social limitations • Coordinates cultural events, liaising with side-wide staff/departments and community agencies (ie. project coordination of cultural events for over 500 individuals in a two-day annual event, coordinating inter-disciplinary programs with music/art therapists for cultural reintegration and reminiscence therapy).• Therapeutic Recreation programming of Montessori learning, life long learning initiatives, physical fitness, leisure education, reminiscence therapy, musical appreciation, art therapy, and social engagement.• To promote and advertise opportunities to enhance quality of life and wellbeing through recreation and leisure services with a holistic strengths-based approach. • Submits requisitions, interviews, orients, supervises and sets expectations with volunteers Contributes to interprofessional team and therapeutic recreation professional development.• Supervises over 25 volunteers on a weekly basis.

Location: Fairview Lodge Responsibilities included:• Worked as part of an interdisciplinary service team to provide high-quality, person-centered care while utilizing holistic and strengths-based approaches to enhance quality of life and well-being through various facilitated programs (e.g. physical activity, leisure education, Montesorri, and community integration initiatives) for residents living with cognitive, physical, social, and/or emotional limitations• Maintained up-to-date documentation in Gold-Care while using agency-specific assessments of Care Plans, AIM’s, RAPS, and RAI MDS notes.• Utilized the APIE process covering assessment protocol, planning individual and group programming on a weekly basis, implementation of interventions to improve optimal health through leisure, and evaluate program success.
