Having graduated with an Honours degree in Applied Animal Science from SRUC/The University of Glasgow in 2020, I recently began my first graduate job as a SARS-CoV-2 testing team assistant with Moredun Research Institute. This involves me helping with the current pandemic by logging, aliquoting and inactivating samples from the public for testing to see whether they’re positive for coronavirus. We were also involved in the prevalence testing for the new strain which appeared in Scotland. Although this role is only temporary, it has allowed me to experience working in a professional lab and gain many new skills. I also have a part-time job with Boots where I am currently working towards my NVQ Level 2 equivalent in pharmacy services. Having passed all of the assessments, I am now at the final stage of qualifying and only have a few more practical skills to learn to become certified.This year, I also accepted my unconditional offer to study Pharmacy at Robert Gordon’s University which I will begin this coming September.
