In 2015, I joined Burr & Forman as a Partner, and relocated from Memphis to Nashville, Tennessee. This move has allowed me to more efficiently serve my clients across Tennessee, and has expanded my ability to help clients in throughout the South East, including North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and even beyond to Delaware.I most frequently represent businesses, private equity groups and financial institutions in contract and other commercial disputes, lender-liability lawsuits, fraudulent transfer lawsuits, and in the acquisition and/or sale of distressed assets and commercial paper. I also assist creditors in all facets of commercial collections and secured transactions, and represent both creditors and debtors in formal and informal workouts.Part of my practice also focuses on regulatory compliance and representing clients in the beverage industry on matters such as ABC licenses and beer permits, and other issues related to Tennessee’s liquor laws.At Burr, some representative matters thus far include:* Successfully defended logistics and transportation firm in federal litigation matter involving claims of breach of an asset purchase agreement and related non-compete agreements* Represented private equity group in multi-million dollar default resolution and workout relative to manufacturer/debtor in midst of court-ordered receivership* Represented bondholder and indenture trustee in bond default and appointment of receiver * Representation of plaintiff supplier in federal litigation matter involving claims for breach of contract, fraudulent conveyance, successor liability and unjust enrichment.

A little over a year after joining Armstrong Allen, Adams and Reese LLP acquired Armstrong Allen and I was asked by Adams and Reese to join the firm as an associate attorney. During the first several years at Adams and Reese, I focused on helping business entities resolve disputes, with an emphasis in the areas of commercial litigation, franchise/dealership law, and employment law. In 2009, I was named partner at Adams and Reese, and at that time, I also began practicing heavily in the area of creditor's rights where I represented financial institutions and private equity groups with various disputes, as well as with asset acquisitions, and/or asset foreclosures and sales. Some representative matters while at Adams and Reese include:* Successfully defended commercial lender in several lawsuits involving an alleged Ponzi scheme in which the lender's customers allegedly lost millions of dollars* Successfully appealed a jury verdict rendered in Texas State Court against my client (an oil/gas distributor) for hundreds of thousands of dollars. On appeal, the verdict against my client was reversed in its entirety, and a take-nothing verdict rendered in its place. (Petition for review denied by SC). (See, Airgas-Southwest, Inc. v. IWS Gas and Supply of Texas, LTD, 390 S.W.3d 472 (Tex. App. – Houston 2012)).* In a case that went to the U.S. Supreme Court, I represented and achieved relief for a group of approximately 42 Plaintiffs against the City of Memphis, alleging discrimination in city’s promotional process. (See, Oakley, et al v. City of Memphis, 557 U.S. 930; 129 S.Ct. 2860, 174 L. Ed. 2d 599 (2009)).*Successfully obtained grant of injunctive relief in favor of my client preventing manufacturer from prematurely terminating two dealership contracts, then successfully defended appeal of same by manufacturer. (See, NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc. v. Toyota Materials Handling, USA and The Lilly Company, 246 Fed. Appx. 929 (6th Cir. 2007)).

After almost five years of trying criminal cases, I was asked to join Armstrong Allen PLLC as an associate attorney, and determined that it was time to accept a new challenge and move my legal practice to the civil arena. As an associate at Armstrong Allen, I focused on commercial litigation, representing a variety of businesses throughout various industries in contract disputes.

After serving as a Capital Case Law Clerk, I was anxious to get into the courtroom and begin trying cases. I was hired by the Shelby County District Attorney's Office as a felony prosecutor, and began trying cases my first day on the job. In the role of Assistant District Attorney, I represented the people of the state of Tennessee in the prosecution of criminal cases from indictment through trial and/or negotiated plea. I was responsible for over 500 cases in my division at any given time during my tenure at the DA's office, argued countless motions, and I served as first chair in dozens of jury and bench trials.
