Summer Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) Professional Development Program - The UC Berkeley School of Optometry was awarded grant funding from the Graduate Division to support the professional development and effective teaching of GSIs. Three GSIs were selected for involvement, given our "outstanding track records as GSIs and interest in incorporating teaching into [our] future careers."My role is to assist faculty in their transition to S/U grading by developing formative assessments such as quizzes and homework assignments and/or to help develop detailed grading rubrics to ensure students receive early and specific feedback on their coursework.

Medical writing in support of client accounts with therapeutic and companion diagnostic products in oncology, ranging from breast cancer to rare neuroendocrine tumors. Major clients included Agilent and Eli Lilly. Business development support for accounts relating to rare disease (eg, urea cycle disorders) and chronic disease (eg, osteoarthritis). Development of deliverables ranging from systemic medical literature reviews to patient advocacy social media campaigns, and including sales training tools, pathology training videos, patient educational resources, resources for oncologists, and new business pitches.

Independent, 12-month project researching the use of novel gene therapy constructs to promote neuroplasticity following spinal cord injury, specifically through viral vector delivery of chondroitinase (ChABC). Supervised by Dr. Rafael Yáñez-Muñoz, Editor in Chief of Gene Therapy magazine, and partially funded by the UK’s Spinal Research charity as part of the CHASE-IT initiative.Co-lead of the Advanced Gene and Cell Therapy Lab (RHUL) and contributor to the student-run Scientist’s Scribe magazine.

Development of written feedback reports for quality assurance, user experience optimization, and scientific communication strategy within the platform, particularly as they pertain to the academic laboratory setting.
