As an engineer/ draughtsperson at Warmington Fires, I was a part of a small team of engineers, developing and testing products for manufacture. My responsibilities included: - Design and draughting of new development fireplaces and fireplace accessories- Draughting of custom product requests for Warmington's retailers- Working with the team of engineers and factory staff to ensure continuous product improvement and ease of manufacture - Writing and updating specification documents/ installation manuals- Aiding other engineers with testing; experience included comparative material testing (for insulation purposes) and safety clearance testing according to AS/NZS 2918:2001 Domestic solid fuel burning appliances- installation.

As a research assistant with AUT's Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBTec), I aided with the testing of various iterations of an ethylene sensor, developed for New Zealand's kiwifruit industry. During my time with IBTec, I was impressed with the institute's ability in developing simple, practical and affordable solutions to often complex problems. I also draughted components/ assemblies in other various projects for the institute, using Solidworks.

I worked for Southern Spars as an intern in the summer of 2015/2016. Southern Spars designs and manufactures composite rigging for super yachts and racing yachts. As an introduction to a large-scale manufacturing company, I gained hands on practical experience, working with skilled tradesmen.My responsibilities included: - Finishing of metal parts- polishing, preparation for anodising etc.- Fabrication of small composite parts- Pre-paint fit out and final fit out of composite booms- Carbon-fibre wet lamination and prepreg layup of boom mould- Contributing to the company's ongoing 5S programme
