Dr. Meagher serves as the Senior Vice Dean, Clinical and Translational Research & Chief Clinical Research Officer at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Vice President, Clinical Research at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and Senior Associate Vice Provost for Research at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. She directs Clinical and Translational Research Education, providing leadership of certificate and masters level training programs in Translational Science, Regulatory Science and Regulatory Affairs. Dr Meagher's work is focused on establishing the infrastructure and workforce that facilitate the translation of basic science discoveries into clinical development and on establishing an Academic Learning Health System at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Meagher currently serves on the Board of Directors of Clinical Research Forum and is the Chair Elect of AAMC GRAND. She graduated cum laude with a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. Following completion of an internship and residency in internal medicine she was appointed as Senior Registrar & Lecturer of Cardiovascular Medicine at University College Dublin, Ireland. She moved to the US in 1994 with her husband and four children when she joined the Faculty of Medicine at Penn.Dr. Meagher’s primary research interests focused on the development of novel therapeutics in dyslipidemia and the development of training programs for clinical and translational scientists. Her clinical practice focused on cardiovascular risk modification with an emphasis on management of dyslipidemia, hypertension and women’s cardiovascular health.Dr. Meagher has published articles in numerous journals, including Nature Medicine, Academic Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, JAMA, Journal of Biological Chemistry, American Journal of Cardiology, Hypertension and the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology. She has written numerous reviews and book chapters, and has lectured widely at medical meetings, both nationally and internationally.
