I led the implementation of Manchester City Council's Recycle 4 Greater Manchester door-stepping campaign in 2015, completing 2,041 interviews with residents myself over a period of 20 weeks - with the aim of improving kerb-side collection recycling rates across Greater Manchester boroughs.

South Africa

Field assistant to a PhD student studying the behavioural and associated vocal repertoire of the dwarf mongoose. This involved lengthy periods of fieldwork in challenging terrain on a reserve in South Africa; memorising the individual identity of over 150 different mongoose; playback and predator presentation experiments; daily data collection for the wider research project and basic GPS and GIS skills on Map Source and Basecamp.

Fiji

I became qualified as an Advanced Open Water scuba diver with PADI during this period, conducting daily ecological marine benthic surveys in a scuba team, specialising in coral data recording. The fieldwork involved living on an isolated island in the South Pacific Ocean, with no electricity or running water -and the cooking and cleaning of basecamp.
