Current academic interests lie in the area of identity formation and maintenance, language development and use, and widening participation, including the role of digital technology in developing this area. My PhD emerged from my concern as a classroom practitioner around the potential role of intra-linguistic variation on young children's reading development and subsequent educational attainment. This research fostered my interest in identity formation and socio-cultural practices. I am interested in the inter-sectional nature of the relationship between these areas, including the influence of the former on the latter, and later educational attainment and decision-making.
