Implemented IDDSI across 4 SJOG hospitals. Ensured all food and drink provided to inpatients with swallowing difficulties meet the new International Dysphagia Diet Standards at St John of God Hospitals in Midland, Mt Lawley, Murdoch and Bunbury. Established and led local working parties consisting of local executives, allied health, nursing and food service caregivers and developed individualized implementation plans based on their current service models, clinical needs and staffing constraints. At each site, I informed and upskilled staff on the new standards, reviewed the current menu to identify issues with compliance and created solutions across the organisation to ensure all meals met the new standards. During the project I also identified other issues related to providing texture modified items and have worked with sites to improve the quality of food, snacks and fluids provided to patients. I led the working parties to review current workflows and practices and developed organizational proposals to improve efficiency. During the project I ensured each stage was evidence based, documented and logged with the quality improvement team.
