As a Social Work Intern at The Travis County Public Defender’s Office I am tasked with providing resources and support to a vast array of clients. Social Workers and Public Defenders must collaborate to ensure the needs of the clients are meet while navigating them through the complexities of the criminal justice system.

As a criminal justice major at The University of Georgia, I am required to complete a full-time internship my final semester of college within the criminal justice field. This past semester I had the opportunity to work at The Day Reporting Center of Athens, Georgia. The DRC is under The Georgia State Department of Community Supervision and provides substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling to those on parole or probation. This has been a rewarding and educational experience as I have seen participants recover from addiction and grow as an individual. I am looking forward to using what I learned during this internship to pursue a career as a counselor within the criminal justice system. During this semester I was also able to complete my thesis regarding substance abuse treatment programs and their impact on recidivism rates in the state of Georgia.

Spark Learning Center of Austin, Texas specializes in providing ABA therapy and Speech therapy to those with ASD, Asperger’s, PDD, and other special needs. As a summer intern I provided ABA therapy practices to children of various ages. I also had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with experienced therapists to create treatment plans and daily schedules.

As a Lululemon Educator one is tasked with understanding each product to assist customers, organize large amounts of inventory, and manage conflict. During my time at Lululemon I worked with fellow staff members of various ages and backgrounds to produce the most profitable branch in central Texas.

As a student intern at Wonders and Worries, I assisted the primary event planner with all aspects of event coordinating and fundraising. I was also tasked with connecting with local companies and spreading community awareness about the organization.
