I work under the direction of three attorneys on many different types of cases including estate work, business law, construction law, bankruptcy, real estate and property law, tenant and landlord law, personal injury, car accident cases, and many other legal practice areas. I draft various pleadings and other legal documents that are submitted to the Utah and Idaho courts, have frequent contact with all of our clients, providers, court clerks, and other nearby businesses. It is my responsibility to gather records, send out subpoenas, coordinate with other firms in the scheduling of events like depositions, mediations, arbitrations, etc. I also help assist our attorneys when a case entered into the litigation process, and make sure the notice of event due dates are all correctly scheduled on our calendars, and that they reflect on the court calendars as well. I give many case status updates to our clients and protect the confidentiality of each case. I work with my team to help our firm be the most effective it can be.

I worked as a paralegal for The Advocates from July 2021 to February 2023. I worked as the lead paralegal and legal assistant under the head attorney at the firm, and ran various projects for him within our referral leads process and analyzing data for successful leads and attorney statistics. I also worked under the direction of several attorneys on many personal injury and car accident cases. I drafted various legal documents, reviewed police reports, spoke with insurance adjusters, clients, and treatment providers. It was my responsibility to check that the balances were correct on each medical bill our client owed at the end of the case, and negotiate with providers when patient balances were too high for the settlement funds to cover, and helped assist our attorneys when a case entered into the litigation process. I reviewed each case with our attorneys and had frequent contact with each client, keeping them up to date on where their individual case was at. I worked with my teammates (other paralegals, demand senders, gatekeepers, etc.) to help them get caught up when they are behind on cases or tasks as well.

I worked as a scheduler for Ogden Clinic from August 2020 to July 2021. I was trained to work in E Clinical Works, scheduling for over 20 different doctors and nurse practitioners. Each doctor had a different schedule from the next and required different limits on types of appointments. It was important to pay attention to detail and double check with medical assistants and team members. In every call it was critical that we verify patient information to protect the personal data of the patients that called in. Data security was essential, even when pharmacists and other medical companies called asking for records of patients.

As a Geek Squad agent, I worked with clients to address issues happening with their computers and devices, find a solution, fix the issue at hand, and provide advice on preventing future problems. It’s incredibly important that we never violate the trust of clients or disrespect their property, it was a huge part of my job to keep clients’ data safe and secure. Often times clients would come in upset because of the issue(s) occurring with their devices, it was my duty to make sure they know they will be taken care of, and that I understand the situation is upsetting. Keeping a positive attitude and demeanor is crucial to helping a client having a wonderful experience.
