I am currently a self employed trainer and I deliver training for Shelter. This includes a variety of face to face and webinar sessions with various topics. Some topics covered are- Young people and homelessness, Introduction to housing law, Handling challenging situations, mediation, Time management, Landlord and tenant law and emotional resilience. I really enjoy meeting with people from a variety of work places such as charities, local authorities and organisations that are committed to work with people and supporting them through their own journey.Previous to that I was a Housing officer for a local authority where I specialised my case work in young people and children who were at risk of homelessness. This was a rewarding role and I wanted to use the skills I learn at the front line to help others with their housing related work.I spent five years at the charity YMCA working with people first hand who were experiencing homelessness and trying to understand how best to support them. This included unaccompanied asylum seekers, carte leavers and even children.
