Plays roles in scale-up and automation of hESC culture, differentiation of hESC's into pancreatic progenitors, and cryopreservation. Methodologies for scalable closed feeding, passaging, differentiation, and harvesting in bioreactors are established and optimized. In addition to working with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, interns gain practical hands-on experience with analytical methods for evaluation status of large-scale cultures. Interns also gain exposure to multiple functional areas required for product development such as animal modeling, device engineering, and clinical manufacturing. Interns gain insight into the development of scaled and automated GMP cell therapy products from start to finish.
