At TOFS I made engaging web content, managed our social media accounts and promoted our events in the Tonbridge area. I also acted as the in-house graphic designer, printing menus and posters. TOFS had a rebranding over the summer which I worked on extensively, creating a new logo, colour palette and branding elements which I used to create business cards, email signatures and other core deliverables.

At 12 Designs I worked closely with my mentor, Claire, in the running of her Interior Design business. I learnt about the reality of being a designer and how to research, design and present concepts to clients. As well as interior design projects, I updated her website and created social media content for her business to expand her outreach in the South East and London area.

For this part-time job at Reading University, I created fun and attractive chalkboards for the many eating areas, bars and recreational hang outs around campus. I created small A4 size signs up to large multi-meter long boards for menu items, special offers and events around campus e.g. drinks parties and graduations.

At McDonald's I worked hard and saved up money to use for my final year at Reading University. I mainly worked on the line preparing food in a very fast-paced and intense environment. An understanding of the balance of quality and quantity were needed for my role, and I think that I managed to prepare all the food correctly in a timely manner. This role required a very quick-handed and quick-thinking individual to make the food and also to pick up a lot of information on the job, such as all the combinations of all the menu items. With such a busy kitchen and many people crammed in a small space, with slippery floors and hazards around, this role has given me valuable experience dealing with multi-tasking and working hard in a difficult environment. I also gained certificates through the McDonald's online training programme to understand the basis of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

At VS I was one of the sales associates responsible for working the till, dealing closely with customers and helping them find what they needed. We were encouraged to push all promotions and strive for high sales. Being on the shop floor and engaging with every customer, introducing myself and helping them around the shop was my day-to-day routine.

In Monsoon my responsibilities were to constantly replenish stock, work on the till to service the customers, and to ensure that the place was tidy. I frequently dealt with customers who needed sound advice as we sell a lot of formal wear. Talking with bridesmaids, prom-goers and wedding guests gave me a lot of experience dealing with a wide variety of customer needs. It also taught me how to be honest without offending, "that dress looks lovely...but this colour flatters your skin tone even more".I also frequently helped to add returns to the inventory and worked closely with management to ensure the shop's display looked identical to the visual merchandising brief.

I sought out an internship with this local company because I wanted to get experience dealing with a real interior design business. At Beadle Chrome I assisted one of the directors in styling the shop, and I also learnt a great deal about managing stock, creating inventories of products, and the logistics of deliveries.

At my first proper retail job at George, I was firstly responsible for keeping the shop tidy and helping customers to find what they needed. I acquired a knowledge of where all our items were kept in the warehouse and how to use a till. I also helped my colleagues in setting up points of sale and other promotional offers around the store. I had to be flexible as I was frequently called to help out in the main supermarket stocking shelves during busy periods.

Undoubtedly the best summer of my life. I learnt a great deal about working in a kitchen, such as the rules and regulations to maintain a high standard of quality and hygiene. It was a fast-paced and pressured environment, where the food had to be prepared and sent out without fail. There was a great deal of time management involved, as well as organisation of stock and supplies that had to be replenished very frequently. It also taught me a lot about teamwork and the difference that effective communication can make when you're under pressure to collaborate on making food to a high standard.
