I wasn't one of those kids that always knew what they wanted to be when they grew up. I wanted to be a paleontologist, a fashion designer and then an artist. It was my passion for all things creative and the persuasion of my high school art teacher that lead me to step out of my comfort zone to apply for the digital graphics course at Somerset Career and Technical Center in Skowhegan, Maine. Armed with my knowledge of photography, Photoshop and running a student-led print shop paired with my interest in business that came from working at my family's apple orchard, when it came time to choose my college major, marketing was the perfect balance between creativity and business.Thomas College not only offered the major I was looking for but allowed me to complete my bachelor's degree in three years. I knew I would get a great education, but I had underestimated the relationships I would build during my time there. In addition to creating outstanding friendships, I was connected with alumni and local business owners to grow my experience through internships. After completing my degree in three years with a 4.0 GPA, I launched right into my career as an account assistant at Marshall Communications. Since joining the team, I have been able to grow my skills in marketing and public relations from social media copywriting and monitoring to pitching story ideas to writers. I have also been able to hone the graphic design skills I learned in high school, the web design skills I learned in college and work on nearly every aspect of producing The PR Maven® Podcast.
