About Emma Hearns
I am a highly motivated senior at George Washington University, pursuing a B.A. in Psychological and Brain Sciences through the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, and a Marketing minor through GW School of Business. I grew up on Long Island, New York, and I am unsure of where I will be living post-grad, but I would love a chance to stay in DC longer! If not, I will be returning to New York. Through both my studies and various professional experiences, I have been able to develop a wide range of skills and knowledge that I can apply to both my personal and professional life. I possess excellent communication skills (I could probably talk to a wall), I’m quick on my feet, thrive in multitasking environments and excel in managing multiple projects at once. I’m a quick learner, and I’m always asking questions as I love to learn new things. I have had multiple internship, startups, student organizations and project management experience pertaining to marketing, public relations, engagement and communications. While open to exploring diverse career paths, my current interests lie in pursuing a career in luxury marketing; specifically the public relations/brand communications side. I also am extremely interested in brand management, and brand strategy. Both of those fields combine my interest and expertise in psychology with marketing. Outside of work, I enjoy going on walks, drinking coffee (I’m a barista while I’m at school so I’ve become a bit of a coffee snob) and hanging out with my orange cat Clementine! My slightly embarrassing hobby is learning new vocabulary words, and my guilty pleasure is reality TV. I am eager to continue to gain practical experience through internships and research projects, with the goal of expanding my knowledge and skills before graduating in May 2025. Please feel free to send me a message, I am always eager to grow my network!!

Marketing Intern- Public Relations And Brand Communications
For my second consecutive summer at Frette, I will be working as a Public Relations intern. I will be able to immerse myself into this brand new position while working closely with the PR and Marketing teams. I will be creating and distributing press releases, working with social media and content creation, communicating with journalists, being the main point of contact for various ad campaigns, assisting with graphic design project management and much more. Using what I've learned through my various marketing experiences, my studies, and my internship last summer at Frette, I feel ready and excited to be able to learn about a different area of the Marketing industry and gain new skills through experience!
Founding Director Of Engagement
As the Founding Director of Engagement for the GWU chapter of the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative (ALCSI), a national organization focused on promoting early detection and raising awareness about the risks of lung cancer, I spearheaded various initiatives to engage the community both at GWU, and the surrounding D.C. area. In this role, I ran various social media pages, created and sent email newsletters and meeting reminders, created visually appealing graphics, initiated outreach to medical professionals, and delivered impactful presentations at conferences. In our first semester of existence at GWU, I was able to recruit over 70 interested and motivated individuals to join ALCSI through various marketing and recruitment techniques.
Global Marketing Intern
As a summer global marketing intern at Frette, a prestigious luxury linen brand based in Italy, I will not only gain skills pertaining specifically to the luxury market, but also pertaining to working with a global brand. I am eager to delve into the intricacies of luxury marketing and global marketing and expand my expertise in this specialized field, especially while getting to experience working in the New York City Corporate Office every weekday.
Marketing Communications Intern
As a marketing communications intern at Storage Scholars LLC, a moving and storage startup specializing in college moving, I planned and executed a campus move-out during Storage Scholar’s first year at George Washington University. Working closely with only one other dedicated co-founder, we successfully surpassed expectations by securing over 250 sign-ups; a notable accomplishment for a first-year operation. Navigating the challenges of establishing Storage Scholars at GWU for the first time, I gained invaluable experience in many fields; such as marketing, operations management, team-building, product and resource management and recruiting. We learned to adapt and evolve, embracing a dynamic and fast-paced environment by proving we were ready for anything. This hands-on experience provided me with a deep understanding of the intricacies of operations management and the importance of effective teamwork. The operation we planned and executed went extremely smoothly, and I will be returning as a campus intern in the fall to execute move-in.The opportunity to contribute to a growing enterprise taught me invaluable lessons and I further developed my abilities to think critically, remain agile, and leverage my strengths to drive meaningful outcomes. In addition, learning how to run a business directly from the CEO who created his company as a college freshman was invaluable.
Operations Management Intern
As a remote Intern for Greek House, an Inc 5000 company specializing in custom apparel for student organizations, businesses, and local groups, I drove sales and interest in Greek House through reaching out to multiple leads across multiple different groups on campus.Using Greek House’s proprietary CRM and digital marketing tools, I was able to drive sales, manage leads, assist with SEO development and manage and create customer accounts. I was the main line of communication with customers and through experience I furthered my skills in customer relations and communication. I also further developed my recruitment skills, as I met with multiple customers to recruit them to use GreekHouse as opposed to any apparel companies they were using in the past. In addition, I created and used social media pages and assets to engage with potential customers on a local basis while promoting GreekHouse. I furthered my understanding in Social Media marketing and customer interaction through this experience.
Lead Campus Launch Intern
As the leader of the launch team for Sidechat at George Washington, I recruited two other like-minded and driven individuals to work alongside me to develop a marketing campaign for this startup social media company on GWU's campus. Through various marketing strategies, I collaborated with my team of three to strategize techniques to increase engagement/excitement while preparing for launch day. This resulted in over 1000 downloads from GWU students following launch day, which is a landmark accomplishment compared to launch day at previous schools. Planning and executing a launch for a brand new app was an amazing but challenging experience which allowed me to emphasize the importance of flexibility, collaboration and being ready for just about anything. Doing all of this whilst leading a team has provided me with skills I had not had before.
Summer Care Coordinator Intern
As a summer Care Coordinator intern at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a world renowned healthcare institution known for its landmark cancer care, I gained invaluable experience in healthcare administration through managing the care of cancer patients and engaging directly with them. In this role, I provided essential assistance to doctors and advanced practice providers by efficiently scheduling their appointments, welcoming and checking in patients with a positive attitude, addressing non-clinical inquiries, managing phone communications, and facilitating seamless coordination and communication with radiology, the lab, and physicians within the facility. I also assisted in conflict management and de-escalation regarding any conflicts patients may be having, whether with other patients or staff. I transported non-ambulatory patients to their appointments, and built relationships with patients who were there frequently by offering my support to cancer patients and their families. This internship served as a transformative opportunity and introduction into the healthcare administration world and provided me with skills that will apply to any career I have in the future.
Student Athlete
Member of the varsity women's cross country and track and field teams, terminated my membership due to illness.
Summer Camp Counselor
In a summer position, I worked 10 hour days Monday-Friday taking care of children, watching them, conducting activities and leading a group of 24 girls. I kept my group engaged and happy, and safe. Furthermore, I learned team building, leadership, and sports coaching skills.
