Devised and implemented the engagement strategy for Hackney Young Futures, a high profile, borough wide independent commission into the lived experiences of children and young people. The engagement programme I developed, and trained and supported 4 young chairs of the commission and peer researchers to deliver, heard directly from over 2,400 children and young people aged between 10-25 years about their experiences of growing up in Hackney, and made recommendations to the Council and other agencies to improve the lives and life chances of young people in Hackney.

Lead for learning and community engagement at Hackney Museum for over 15 years, developing and managing formal and informal learning and engagement across Hackney Museum and Hackney Archives, building trusted relationships that reached deeply into Hackney’s diverse communities and engaged underserved residents in projects and programmes that brought to light previously untold community histories and changed the delivery of services within Hackney Council.Established, grew and managed a pioneering and international renowned learning and community engagement programme.Initiated and managed strategic partnerships with a broad range of heritage organisations, creative professionals, stakeholders, and policy makers to develop creative and heritage projects that have engaged a huge range of marginalised communities and young people in Hackney and directly impacted service delivery and policy to improve the lives of local residents.Mentored Hackney Archives team for 18 months through an organisational change programme, funded by Esmee Fairbairn, designed to support management and the wider staff team to embed partnership working and place communities at the heart of the organisation and to make their working practices, recruitment processes, and communications more inclusive.

Managed the learning, volunteer and exhibition programmes, and the research, development, design and installation of their first two exhibitions: Re:Imagine Black Women in Britain and Staying Power: Photographs of Black British Experience 1950s-1990s.
