During my PhD I developed and validated a novel, non-invasive method for studying intestinal disease through faecal microRNA sequencing. I gained expertise in genomics, RNA biology, parasitology, and microbiome research. My current research focuses on understanding the role of extracellular vesicles as inter-kingdom communication molecules between bacteria and the host. Through this work, I aim to uncover novel insights into bacterial communication pathways that could inform new therapeutic approaches to treating disease.

Research AssistantOperation Wallacea Jun 2019 - Jul 2019HondurasI spent a month collecting biodiversity data in the cloud forests and coral reefs of Honduras for Operation Wallacea. We surveyed the abundance and diversity of amphibians & reptiles, bats, birds, dung beetles, mammals, moths and invertebrates. This involved living in remote satellite camps for weeks at a time and was an incredible insight into the natural world. -
