I am a BAFTA, Grierson and RTS award-winning creative leader, with over twenty years’ experience and an outstanding track record in delivering premium factual television. I am particularly strong in Documentaries, Fact Ent and Specialist Factual. I can generate, curate, and oversee the development of original and distinctive ideas – whether for landmark factual series, premium documentary boxsets, returnable formatted series, or reputational factual singles - and I have won commissions across all the major channels and genres – both in the UK and US – as well as putting together complex international co-pro deals. I have also inspired, motivated, and led both big teams and small more focused ones and I excel at strategic planning. I understand how to shape a company’s story, building on past successes and pushing the boundaries for where they can go next and future growth. I am also good at managing and cultivating relationships too, whether with commissioners – I have strong relationships at both terrestrial and streamer channels – or key stakeholders, access, or talent – both on and off-screen. I have secured and maintained access to sensitive institutions like The Met for BBC One and The Army for Channel 4’s British Army Girls. And I understand how to give shape to access to make it commissionable, like I did for Channel 4’s, Grierson Nominated Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles. I also know how to build stand out ideas around talent too, whether for their passion projects such as the 90-minute film for BBC One – The RAF at 100 with Ewan & Colin McGregor; or exploring issues that are close to their heart like Katie Price: Harvey & Me; or asking them to delve into their past like BBC Two’s Heston’s Marvellous Menu.In addition to this, I am strong on formats; I developed the BBC Three competition Hair – which went from initial idea to commission within 3 weeks and later transferred to BBC Two. And I came up with the idea, securing the talent and the access for a new BBC One, Popular Factual series, Inside the Airport: The Return of Jeremy Spake (wt).I have also developed some big Specialist Factual co-pro films too – whether the Hunt for the Arctic Ghost Ship for Nat Geo and Channel 4, where I secured access to a story that ended up being headline news around the world or a Pompeii film with Mary Beard for BBC One and PBS. And I am particularly proud of my ideas and work for BBC Three, including the Bafta winning Life and Death Row, the BAFTA nominated Drama Our World War and the recent stand out 90’ single, Trump in Tweets.
