After graduation in 2001, Emma began her professional career as a duty manager for JD Wetherspoon at established outlets in Reading and Windsor, and the opening of the Maidenhead branch, gaining a solid foundation in customer service, HR and financial accounting within the hospitality sector. After two years she moved into the construction industry to utilise her university education.With 18 months experience from Geotechnics Ltd as a graduate engineering geologist, Emma joined Geotechnical Engineering in 2005 as a contracts manager in the Site Services Division, specialising in both supervising and managing rail projects. This role involved estimating, business development, marketing and commercial management as well as H&S, Client liaison, on-site supervision, logging to British Standards and the writing of technical reports. In 2006 Emma became Department Manager for Site Services, responsible for developing the market for rail and GEL's innovative P60 slope climbing plant. In 2010 she became the Senior Manager for the Drilling Division, responsible for all commercial, financial and managerial aspects of all departments, the workshop and the stores facilities as well as procurement and business development, and in 2013 she deputised for the Operations Director. In 2014 Emma was appointed Director, responsible for the training and HRM of all staff at GEL, including recruitment, onboarding, and the development and implementation of the Management Development Programme and in 2015 she took on the role of Ops Director. Since 2008 she was Compliance Manager/Sentinel Administrator for RISQS (gaining the maximum 5* rating), and maintaining UVDB compliance for which the Company was awarded an unprecedented 100% score. She was also responsible for supply chain management and the HR aspects of QEHS. Emma now runs All Things Drainage, a family-owned independent drainage company based in Dover, specialising in installing, replacing and repairing foul and storm drains, soakaways and septic tanks as well as CCTV surveys and rodent investigations for domestic customers well as landlords, property maintenance contractors, solicitors, housebuilders and insurance companies.
