For the past two and a half years, I have been part of a small team at a local software company. As part of this team, I gained experience working across the development stack. The team emphasized pair-programming, providing me exposure to both new and legacy codebases in both the .NET Framework and .NET Core. I developed alongside a senior developer, who explained that “real full-stack development” doesn’t start with layer 7 of the OSI model. A programmer needs a base understanding of the foundation we are building on top of. Through this experience I have written Object Oriented C# utilizing abstract classes and interfaces. I used SQL to write ad-hoc queries, views, table-valued functions and stored procedures. I’ve written Razor views employing AJAX calls to policy protected controllers. I’ve contributed to solutioning discussions and have worked directly with customers to gather and understand requirements.
