Working here as a lifeguard involved public relations and communication to ensure the safety of all patrons. While working here, I was also required to work in the kiosk, where I had to serve customers and manage a till. Therefore, I gained skills in sales and engaging with customers.

Lifeguarding involves monitoring and regulating and aquatic environment, communicating clearly and concisely and ensuring the happiness and comfort of patrons. This developed my skills in public relations and communication. This was furthered through my experience at a learn to swim teacher as communication and monitoring the environment is a necessity when working with children.

Being a lifeguard involves monitoring the pool complex and ensuring that safety measures and plans are in place. It can also involve water tests and managing pool operating equipment. As an assistant coach, I am also required to aid in training a squad of swimmers through timing, directing and teaching swimming techniques.
