As Manager, Events and Protocol I was responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Events and Protocol function within the University. The role entailed leading a high-performing team of event, communications and marketing professionals, accountability for the team executing a large calendar of diverse event programs, budget development and management of risk.Specifically:- Development and implementation of event and marketing services strategy in alignment with institutional and brand objectives - Planning and implementation of large-scale, high-profile, and diverse events program. Fostering a culture of continual improvement and lean process innovation- Management of risk. Development, implementation and monitoring of WHS risk management plans for public, major and complex special public events- Provide expert guidance and advice during the design, planning and delivery of events in relation to meeting objectives, protocol, event marketing, brand and execution- Identify, evaluate and mitigate potential reputation and brand risk to ensure maximum brand impact/penetration across target markets- Lead, coach and set the strategic direction for a professional team, including management of personal development plans, training and mentoring, and monitoring performance. Experience in leading change management programs, position realignments, and team restructuring- Designing, developing and implementing policies, processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of event planning, protocol, and delivery- Financial management and responsibility for large operating, discretionary and marketing/event budgets- Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels including Senior Executive, C-level public figures, Parliamentary representatives and their staff, Federal and local enforcement agencies.
