About Emma Mcvey

I am a professionally accredited careers adviser who has experience working in hospitality management. As an Employability Officer for Four Square, a homelessness charity in Edinburgh and as an Employability Fund Trainer at Jobs and Business Glasgow. Also as a Pathways Coordinator for Glasgow City Council, working with care experience young people and matching them with volunteer mentors. As well as helping them and empowering then to find and utilise their potential. Now I am employed by Skills Development Scotland as a work coach. Working with post school individuals who have multiple barriers to finding a positive destination. I have a 2:1 BA in Sociology and Politics from the University of Strathclyde. I then went on to do the Post Graduate Qualification in Career Guidance and Development at the University of the West of Scotland. This post graduate gave me the knowledge, understanding and practical experience to allow me to become an effective career practitioner. I have extensive experience in one to one guidance interviews and group work sessions as well as a firm understanding of the theories surronding career guidance. As well as the practical skills and knowledge I have also gained an admiration of careers guidance and it's aims and objectives.
