My role included conducting feasibility studies and securing planning permission for renewable energy projects. A big part of this was preparing reports for the planning applications and analysing electricity data. I also helped with admin for renewable energy incentives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive. This involved Greenhouse Gas calculations and discussions with Ofgem.

This placement was to complete my chemistry masters project within a research organisation. I aided in work investigating feeding cows seaweed to increase iodine in organic milk. My role was sample preparation, measurement and analysis of milk samples using ICP-MS to analyse minerals and trace element concentrations and trends pre-trial.

This role involves interacting with clients on behalf of the company to give them the best possible experience, providing a friendly but professional environment. This requires excellent communication skills, initiative and an approachable nature. I must also work within my team to manage multiple tasks at once in a high-pressure environment with strict timings.

Aiding in providing and running catering services for weddings and events. This requires excellent communication skills for speaking to clients and organising the staff, it also requires time management and organisation skills as it is important everything is ready on time.

Working in the Ecohydrology and Biogeochemistry Institute with funding from DAAD RISE. Completing a project measuring electron acceptor/donator capacities using mediated electrochemical reduction/oxidation, to investigate chemical interactions in peat. In particular to look at the effect of adding silica.

A summer school for students interested in physical or life sciences providing challenging problem solving tasks, and an introduction to laboratory techniques and science and mathematical challenges.
