During my time at John Lewis, I quickly adapted to a fast-paced work environment, serving customers 2 hours into my first day of work. Within my first week, I further developed leadership skills, training 3 new team members to provide the highest quality of customer services including dealing with customer complaints, health and hygiene guidance alongside food safety level 2 and stock management. My suggestions of how the hospitality department could be more efficient have been taken on board alongside a customer expectations scheme which is currently in the works. Managing customer expectations of stock is imperative for customer satisfaction and often encourages sales.

I worked as part of a team of 4 under a supervisor to achieve sales goals under time pressure whilst maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for staff and customers. Daily communication with customers, addressing queries and providing effective customer services have further improved my communication skills. My experience working for Ryman signified the importance of communication between business and customer to achieve successful sales and efficient customer service. I adapted quickly to my first retail job, undertaking managerial roles to fill in for unavailable colleagues, managing the store and stock on occasion alongside training new staff within my first month of work.
