Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always wanted to fix all of the worlds problems. Help people that couldn’t help themselves, be there in their time of need, save the world… this idea of making a difference is what drove me to become an advocate for victims of crime.My interest in the justice system peaked in high school while completing Genesee Community College’s Justice Academy program my senior year. The complexities that are the system drove me to study Criminal Justice at SUNY Brockport. All of the issues and ideas introduced to me while studying led me to realized the importance of the actual people who go through the system. Picking up a minor in communication allowed me to hone my interpersonal and relationship building skills, which have become the most important aspect of my job now.As a Family Advocate for the Genesee County Sheriff Departments CAC, I am able to provide comfort and support to families struggling with the idea of life after traumatic events. Our office specifically handles child sexual and physical abuse cases, making advocacy for those who cannot advocate for themselves the most important task. The Justice system is extremely complicated, especially for the kiddos who unfortunately have to go through the process. Making it child friendly and as easy as possible is a goal we strive to maintain. Seeing the lasting effects these crimes have on child victims has only increased my desire to save the world… one case at a time! Let’s connect- I am always looking to expand my network!
