I graduated Summa Cum Laude in just three years from Coastal Carolina University’s Honors Program, majoring in psychology and minoring in criminology and sociology. During my senior year, I completed a thesis titled “The Association Between Parental Relationships and the Marital Views, Attitudes, and Relationships of College Students”. This is published in the CCU Digital Commons. I am studying clinical mental health counseling in West Chester University’s graduate program. Through WCU, I am researching how to improve the retention of college students using social-emotional learning techniques through a graduate assistantship. I have experience working with adults in an inpatient facility and adolescents in a partial hospitalization program. I have worked with kids for most of my life through nannying and volunteer coaching. I also have a passion for the mental health field, which I truly discovered while working in a psychiatric inpatient facility. I am also highly motivated, compassionate, and competitive. I want to excel in my career and life goals, so I constantly challenge myself. I want to help improve mental healthcare because I have seen what can happen when people are unable to get the help they need. I am also very empathic, which is crucial to this field. I know my passion, determination, and empathy will help guide me in becoming the type of counselor I want to be.
