CurrentObtain patient medical history to include chief complaint or reason for visit, family medical history, history of any allergies and list of current medicationsPerform basic eye tests prior to physician exam including wall chart, depth perception, color blindness, eye pressure, topography, autorefraction/refraction, visual field, tear labVerify patients current eye prescription informationDilate patients eyes using eye drops if needed for further testing. Perform advanced eye tests, including OCT, Fundus photosRespond to patients, pharmacies, and other medical parties in a timely mannerDocument all history and testing information Summarize all exam details from physician into patients electronic chart, including but not limited to: proper charting of examination, additions to chief complaint, physician assessment and recommendations for treatmentObserve patient and physician during exam and assist as needed or when appropriateMaintain awareness of the patients verbal and nonverbal communication when the physician is providing instructionsAssist physician in patient care and minor surgical procedures in examination roomE-prescribe new medications as directed by the physician and renew prescription eye drops as directed by physicianAdd diagnosis in patients electronic chart and ensure codes match diagnosis for billing purposes
