As a Scheduler, I was responsible for building and maintaining the Member's calendar in accordance with long and short-term priorities. On any given day, that meant not only scheduling meetings and events, but coordinating all logistics, keeping the trains running, and making rapid-fire decisions when inevitable last-minute conflicts arise. On top of my scheduling responsibilities, I also direct office policy positions and legislative efforts for issues of reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, domestic violence, sexual violence, and I co-lead our office's paid internship program.

At Chicago's Domestic Violence Courthouse, I assisted survivors of domestic violence in getting orders of protection. Specifically, I spoke with parents who have children in common with an abusive partner in order to draft civil petitions and affidavits asking the court for child-related remedies (such as child support, temporary legal custody, and safe visitation schedules). In addition, I explained court proceedings, provided intense, trauma-informed emotional support, and connected clients with appropriate resources.

During my summer working for Congressman Ro Khanna, I worked for both legislative and communications staff. In addition to attending Congressional briefings, writing corresponding memos, and writing social media posts for the Congressman's Facebook and Twitter, I drafted press releases and media advisories. I also communicated daily with constituents, whether via email, over the phone, or through mailed correspondence. The highlight of my summer in the office included successfully pitching and pursuing an original idea for a new piece of legislation intended to curb sexual violence on college campuses.

As a Seasonal Associate at 270 Strategies, I created, edited, and sourced a variety of pieces for both clients and internal PR initiatives. Throughout my internship, I wrote multiple op-eds, blog posts, and statements, and drafted a large number of press releases. Additionally, I pitched to hundreds of newsmakers, ultimately landing coverage in over twenty publications across 19 states.

As an Environmental Educator with Pottawattamie County, I helped design curriculums focused on environmental conservation and taught lessons to groups of students ages 3-15. Additionally, I designed t-shirts, signage, and graphics for the program.

I worked at Christy Creme for around 20 hours a week all through high school. I still find time to help out during the busier weeks of the Summer.
