I am a motivated chemical engineer and a recent Rose-Hulman summa cum laude graduate. I am now working at Jacobs Engineering in Houston, Texas, within the JETS contract. I work on thermal and life support models and simulations for NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC). My current focuses are on lunar dust and its effects on radiator surfaces. This project plays particular relevance in the Artemis Missions, which will be responsible for landing the first woman and first person of color on the surface of the moon! The dust studies will also be applicable for future Mars missions. While I was in school, I was an active member and executive officer of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), the Rose-Hulman Astronomical Society, and Design Build Fly (DBF). These organizations provided me with leadership experience while offering an opportunity to expand my technical knowledge about aircraft and spacecraft. I also worked as a learning center tutor for three years and a supervisor for one. I graded for the chemical engineering department and the math department, and I helped with multiple summer enrichment programs such as Fast-Track Calculus (2020) and Rose Prime (2021). I held an internship in the summer of 2022 at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) in Clinton, IA where I worked as a production engineer in the ethanol department. There I optimized the function of the fusel oil decanter. In the summer of 2021 I performed research at Rose where I focused on accomplishing the saturation of a long chain dicarboxylic acid via a catalyzed hydrogenation reaction in a packed bed reactor.Throughout my time at Rose I received multiple awards and accolades for my accomplishments in chemical engineering (CHE). In 2022 I received the Elanco Award for Excellence in Chemical Engineering (Outstanding Junior in CHE). In 2023 I earned the Sam C. Hite Award for the Outstanding Senior in Chemical Engineering by a vote of the CHE faculty. I was named the 2023 OXE Outstanding Senior by a vote of my CHE peers, and I received the Ron Artigue Award for Outstanding Achievement in Unit Operations and Process Control by a vote of the CHE faculty. Finally, after three rounds of voting by the entire Rose-Hulman faculty and staff, I was also awarded the John T. Royse Medallion at graduation, being recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of the Class of 2023. None of these awards would have been possible without the tremendous support I received from the Rose-Hulman faculty and staff, my dear friends and peers, and my unfailing family, for whom I am incredibly grateful.

Learning Center SupervisorRose-Hulman Institute Of Technology May 2022 - Jun 2023Terre Haute, Indiana, United StatesAs a Learning Center Supervisor, not only do I maintain all my tasks and obligations as a LC tutor, but I now have more responsibilities. I must attend at least one (but more like two) evening sessions of tutoring in a week. I have paperwork and surveys to complete to make sure tutors and tutees are interacting and behaving appropriately. I also help organize quarterly tutor meetings and will play a more active role in the review sessions hosted at the end of each quarter before finals. -
Learning Center TutorRose-Hulman Institute Of Technology Sep 2020 - Jun 2023Terre Haute, Indiana, United StatesAs a Learning Center Tutor at Rose-Hulman I have opportunities to assist my peers in engineering, science, and writing classes. I primarily tutor freshman and sophomore level classes such as calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, differential equations, conservation principles and balances, thermodynamics, and heat and mass transfer. Since I am a writing tutor I also have the opportunity to edit papers and senior theses. This job is an excellent way for me to help other people unlock the skills they did not know they had. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a student begin to understand how to work problems on their own. -
Research StudentRose-Hulman Institute Of Technology Jun 2021 - Aug 2021Terre Haute, Indiana, United StatesIn this role I was tasked with finding the best methods to use to hydrogenate organic molecules such as long-chain dicarboxylic acids. I experimented with catalysts such as Pd/C, Pt/C, and Raney Nickel to fully saturate oleic acid. I used a continuous shell-and-tube fixed bed reactor which was controlled through Delta V. Temperatures around 95 Celsius and pressures around 100psi with a 20:1 (by mass) mixture of sand:Pd/C will allow for the best chance of saturation of LCDA. -
Production Engineering InternAdm Jun 2022 - Aug 2022Clinton, Iowa, United StatesIn this role I was able to focus on a unit optimization project in the ethanol production department of ADM Clinton Corn Processing. The overall project goal was to minimize the water concentration in the overflow stream from the fusel oil decanter. This project involved brainstorming, troubleshooting, and problem-solving as I uncovered new information about the decanter. I was able to make decisions directly affecting the process which ultimately improved the process. After two months I successfully reduced the water concentration in the overflow stream by about 4% and left several recommendations for future steps to take to bring the water concentration down further. While in this role I also practiced performance excellence routines such as continuous improvement, focused improvement, and workplace organization. I participated in DMAIC problem-solving sessions, 5-Why investigations, and safety engagements as a part of my standard work.
