Responsible for setting up the department from scratch and for ensuring it's growth. Currently the number of planning, consenting, and enforcement applications the Board processes has increased by five times.

● My role primarily involves ensuring that development is carried out sustainably within the Boards’ Drainage Districts and upland catchment areas. ● Competent in interpreting and applying environmental policy; I have learnt to interpret and enforce the Board’s Byelaws and the Land Drainage Act 1991 within the planning process, applications for Land Drainage Consent and in enforcement cases where works have been carried out in contravention of the Board’s Byelaws. ● Highly competent in interpreting drainage strategies, technical drawings and hydraulic modelling for major developments. ● Highly experienced in advising Local Planning Authorities by commenting on planning applications and Local Plans. ● Adept in assessing applications for Byelaw consent; evaluating the impact of new developments on flood risk and the Boards’ operations, particularly in relation to surface water discharge consents for large housing developments.● I have attended numerous site visits to meet housing developers and members of the public to advise if proposed drainage strategies would be acceptable, and to discuss concerns about flooding in their local area. ● Experienced in preparing Deeds of Indemnity and Deeds of Covenant to cover relaxations of the Board’s Byelaws.
