As part-time Constituency Assistant to Fergus Ewing MSP in his Inverness office, my main duties were managing social media and handling communications. In addition, I dealt with general office work such as filing cases and attending surgeries in the constituency while finishing my Highers.Later, as a full-time Parliamentary Assistant in Edinburgh, my main responsibilities included casework, correspondence, drafting press releases, and a continuation of my role as social media manager. In addition, I also fulfilled various admin duties assigned at the Member and Office Manager’s discretion.Following the election in May 2016, as full-time Administration Officer to Ash Denham MSP, my main duties were managing allowances and budgeting, liaising with the press and drafting press releases or newspaper columns. I also undertook various political tasks alongside the Chamber Desk at the Scottish Parliament such as writing, submitting, and supporting questions and motions on Ms Denham’s behalf. I managed Ms Denham’s diary and both physical and e-mail correspondence. In addition, I designed and managed her website (www.ashdenham.scot), social media, and Parliamentary newsletter.After returning to Inverness in August 2016, I remained Communications and Press Officer on a part-time basis until March 2017, alongside my temp work at the UHI and, later, full-time job in the Scottish Ambulance Service.
