As a child and teenager I struggled with spelling and reading. As a teacher I experienced first hand the literacy difficulties that many students face. As a mum to dyslexic girls I was motivated to make a change. Scode was born when I was unable to find spelling resources to support my daughter with her needs. I wrote, invented and created literacy activities that would be fun for us to do at home. I repeated these with the students in my class and it became apparent that this was an approach that was going to be beneficial for so many young readers and writers.I am not a great finisher so this project soon took a back seat and life got in the way. Fast forward a few years and the lock-downs hit. In a state of confusion I dug out the piles of paper to help me with homeschooling and to fill the endless days! I shared them with Jill to help support her daughter and we haven't looked back. As a fellow teacher with years of rich classroom experience Jill is everything I am not, organised, strategic and realistic. Together we have worked like Trojans to create quality educational resources that allow children to thrive without seeing our colleagues go under.Scode is an award-winning company that was founded by teachers for teachers.
