I worked within the RTC and EL/PL teams running a case load of litigated and pre-litigation case files. Alongside this I also had responsibility of investigating possible fraudulent claims and dealing with these accordingly. Which involved gathering evidence of fraudulent activity and dealing with the parties appropriately. As stated above, I managed a mixed workload of RTC pre litigated, RTC litigated and EL/PL pre litigated cases. This lead to me developing the skills to multitask and be able to quickly adapt to work on different types of cases within the day. Further to this, I had to ensure I was very organised so that there was no confusion between case types.

During my time at Irwin Mitchel I worked within a large Litigation Team, whom were teamed with Esure Insurance. I independently managed LEI funded Fast Track claims alongside a large proportion of untraced claims via the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB). Solely representing individual clients I was able to build a rapport with each uniquely. My average case load was between 350-400 individual cases. My role involved handling the claims first hand from start to finish, this involved some out of court disposals but were primarily litigated cases adhering to court orders and timetables. The litigated process was heavily inclusive of drafting official documents, for example List of Documents, Directions Questionnaires, Particulars of Claim, Consent orders and many more. Further to this, a key responsibility of mine was to prepare cases for trial by complying the Court Bundle and briefing Counsel. Furthermore, negotiation was a skill I heavily developed. Conversing with defendants representatives to meet an agreement on a daily basis. Finally, within the department I held a further role to manage the office supplies. To ensure that staff members had all the tools to aid their working dayDuring my employment at Irwin Mitchell I completed the Paralegal Apprenticeship and became fully qualified. I also passed further exams to gain qualifications in Criminal Law, Contract Law, Family Law and Family Practice. The work I completed for these exams helped to broaden my knowledge which assisted me in day to day practice.
