A 12-week, 480-hour, internship in inpatient and outpatient settings. I treated a variety of cancer and blood disorders diagnoses including sickle cell disease, SCID, leukemias/lymphomas, brain cancers (ATRT, ependymoma, medulloblastoma), solid tumors (neuroblastoma, retinoblastoma, osteosarcoma), hemophilia, etc. Patients experienced numerous comorbidities including developmental delays, hemiparesis, peripheral neuropathy, TBI, low vision, etc. I treated patients aged 1 month to 40+ years. A six-week, 240 hour internship at the Little Light House in Tulsa, OK. The Little Light House is a non-profit preschool for children aged birth-6 years of age. I assisted the two occupational therapists in preparing for group treatment sessions, performing group therapy sessions, and creating activities/crafts, resources, and sensory supports for the students.

I participated in Oklahoma State University’s chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. I worked in a remote, rural, and under resourced community in Honduras with limited to no access to health care. I had hands-on experience training under licensed medical professionals, distribute medicines under licensed pharmacists, and facilitate preventative medicine workshops to childrens and adults. My responsibilities included:- Working in triage - Take patient vitals- Obtaining patient history and current symptoms- Shadowing and assisting licensed physicians (optometrist, gynecologist, pharmacist, and general practitioners, etc.) and dentists- Participating in preventative education and public health workshops (sexual and reproductive health, oral hygiene, proactive health education for children, etc.)- Participating in clean water project
