I hold the vision at Digital Unite. I identify people and organisations we can learn from and partner with. I instigate and nourish collaborations. I think about new products we can design and audiences we can engage with. I build and interrogate business case and financial planning around digital inclusion, including best use of funding opportunities. I am always mindful of evidence and of impact, about the economic case for digital inclusion and about defining digital social value. I foster a culture of openness, diligence and a commitment to – and genuine passion for – brilliant public service.Over the last 3 years, I have:• Re-platformed our Digital Champions Network on to a SaaS solution that allows scale, complexity and nuance for Champions, their projects and the organisations they work or volunteer for.• Overseen the creation of a new peer-to-peer digital skills training network for people with learning disabilities, working with Mencap and Ufi Trust• Instigated and overseen the creation of a new digital inclusion employee volunteering programme for Capgemini (1000+ employees engaged so far) and transitioned it into a digital inclusion product (Inspire) that is now being used by other corporates.• Served on the Community Board of the Digital Poverty Alliance https://digitalpovertyalliance.org/ and will serve on its National Delivery Committee. • Accelerated support to intermediary organisations delivering digital inclusion in the third sector throughout the pandemic, securing NLCF funding and reaching 3m digitally excluded people

In the last 25 years, I have grown a 2-person company running digital skills classes in a London cyber cafe to one which is supporting over 100 public, third sector and corporate clients to sustain thousands of Digital Champions, delivering digital inclusion and skills to tens of thousands of individuals. Along the way I have…• Worked with and for government departments including DCMS, Cabinet Office, DfE, DWP – including being the first Chair of the DWP’s Age Action Alliance• Set up Silver Surfers Day/ Spring Online campaign, which ran annually for 13 years and engaged over a million older people with digital technologies• Secured funding from various bodies including NCLF, Ufi, Ofcom, City & Guilds• Convened and led One Digital, a strategic digital inclusion partnership of five national organisations• Authored one of the first level 2 IT user (digital skills) ITQs for City & Guilds and piloted it with Citizens Advice Bureau• Created the Digital Champions Network concept, re-built it on Open Source after initial prototyping, winning an award for innovation in learning technology two years later• And in 2012, I was awarded an OBE for Services to Digital Inclusion.
