Senior Web DeveloperCharles Schwab Sep 2009 - Dec 2010Westlake, Texas, UsDuties and responsibilities:Around the time I joined Charles Schwab, Apple had decided to start using Schwab's 401k services for its employees, and the company required that all of Schwab's Retirement Plan Services websites had to be W3C compliant. I was hired to review Adobe ColdFusion, HTML, CSS and JavaScript code for four websites used by Schwab’s Retirement Plan Services customers, and rewrite code in order to generate W3C compliant markup. This project involved working with front and back-end developers to understand complex programming and rewrite sections of code; it also involved writing documentation based on the problems found in the source code in order to teach developers how to write/generate W3C compliant code. It was my responsibility to study hundreds of pages of ColdFusion code and develop a strategy to “clean” the code and restructure it so it was easier to maintain in the future.Production support and maintenance of web-based applications. I was in charge of adding new features to existing applications and optimizing code as needed.Redesign an Enrollment website to fix layout problems.Monitor websites for W3C compliance and make sure they are correctly rendered by Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Train ColdFusion developers on how to write W3C standards compliant code and encourage them to use: a) the autovalidation tools developed by my team, and b) the jQuery JavaScript Library.Record, edit, and debug Selenium tests using the Selenium IDE. -
Systems Development SpecialistAffiliated Computer Services Nov 2007 - Aug 2009Development of databases and web-based applications using:• Macromedia/Adobe ColdFusion MX 6 & 7• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 • WSDL/SOAP • XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML Duties and responsibilities:Updates/maintenance of web-based applications and database tables for several of ACS customers including McDonald's, HAVI Global Solutions, Parkland Health & Hospital System (PHHS), Nike Bauer, Nike, ScottsMiracle-Gro, Genworth Financial, Sun Life Financial and Symetra Financial. These applications were all part of the iStar Web Portal, a site developed by ACS to provide common access to many of its process driven tools and help facilitate requests and support activities. Design and development of a group of web forms for McDonald's known collectively as the "McDonald's Security Access Request Form". Development of a ColdFusion component for Nike used to retrieve raised floor information (temperature and humidity values). U.S. Chamber of Commerce transition: Coordinated multiple meetings between ACS and USCC staff. Took care of setting up the iStar Web Portal for USCC users. Wrote requirements documents needed in order to transition 10 Nike Request Forms from our iStar Web Portal to Siemens' NewScale site. In order to write these documents I had to study the code for all 10 forms, document multiple processes, convert database queries to stored procedures, and contact multiple ACS groups and process owners in order to make sure my documents were accurate. I also coordinated the creation of new database accounts for Siemens that gave their developers secure access to web services and database stored procedures located on ACS’ servers. -
Database DeveloperLiberty Source Oct 2007 - Nov 2007Database development using Microsoft SQL Server 2000.Duties and responsibilities:Design and develop a database for the C-PALLS system: During my five weeks at Liberty Source I worked on the C-PALLS project. C-PALLS is a method used to evaluate many of the early skills required for later reading success; the measure was designed to be used with children in pre-kindergarten. On my second day at Liberty Source I was given two ring binders containing the C-PALLS system in English and Spanish and was asked to design a database to store the data. I was told that my new database should be integrated with the existing Tango database which contained about 150 tables. There was no documentation or ERD available for this database. I developed the conceptual and logical data models and created the physical database design in SQL Server to store all the C-PALLS text and images in both languages. My new database tables were integrated with the existing Tango database to access information about schools and school districts, teachers, students, etc. I worked with two Flex developers and a C# developer to create multiple XML documents and webservices used by Tango, the web-based application developed by the company. By the time I left Liberty Source I had implemented my database design, imported all the data into the database using Data Transformation Services, and written all the stored procedures and scripts required to import and manipulate the data, and create, drop and alter all database objects.
