I used strategic storytelling to fight for the rights of low-income older adults—who are disproportionally women, people of color, those with limited English proficiency, and LGBTQ older adults—to have access to the health care and income supports they need to age in dignity. One of my favorite video projects while at Justice in Aging was See Me Age in Dignity (linked below). The video, made to accompany and promote a new report, makes the connection between queer and trans youth to the unique legal needs of LGBTQ older adults. In addition to video production, I strategized, project managed, and produced a variety of written and digital content for communications, development, and programmatic efforts to fight senior poverty and advocate for low-income older adults, including photos, website, social media images, annual reports, & slide decks for trainings and presentations. I managed our foundation grants and contracts: drafted and edited proposals, reports, and LOIs in collaboration with the Executive Director and program directors; developed and managed protocols for seeking new funding and reporting; assisted with identification, gauging fit and initial outreach to potential new funders; coordinated grant reporting; managed submission of all proposals and reports and maintained records of proposals, reports, and agreements. I was also often involved in creative brainstorming and big picture thinking about potential projects, organization/brand identity, and organizational priorities. I worked on several strategic projects as a founding member of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. These projects worked at the core identity of the organization, including the establishment of a Racial Justice Fellowship, and hosting a training on gender identity and trans allyship at work. I also led a bimonthly staff book club on topics of race, power, privilege, poverty, aging, health care, and related issues.

I joined Justice in Aging in December 2014 as a writer and communications associate based in the Oakland, CA office. My initial responsibility was to support the communication team’s overall engagement and social media strategy. I also served as the blog editor for the Justice in Aging blog and assisted with all written content for the organization.

Seiniger Law Offices is a plaintiff’s litigation firm specializing in wrongful death, workers’ compensation, employment, discrimination, personal injury, and product liability. In my role as a paralegal, I provided legal and administrative support to attorneys, staff, and clients; screened potential new clients; monitored case deadlines; drafted, edited, and proofread discovery, complaints, motions, and letters; prepared filings; reviewed deposition transcripts; processed case correspondence via email, phone, and regular mail; conducted research; assisted with case strategy and brainstorming; and served as a client liaison in a fast-paced, high-volume caseload environment. I was also certified as an Idaho Workers’ Compensation Specialist (CIWCS).

Worked on development strategy for nonprofit oral history organization that collects, preserves and shares elders’ firsthand accounts of the Partition of India in 1947. Sought out potential funding sources for The Archive by gauging fit and feasibility. Drafted and submitted grant proposals while collaborating with other team members. Strategized for future funding and branding by creating a grant writing resource packet for the organization.

I worked as an assistant stage manager on six productions of the ISF repertory company from rehearsal through performance, for three summers. I problem-solved any backstage issues at the immediate level, both following the Stage Manager’s lead and acting independently. I also cooperated with the diverse needs of a variety of different audiences from the Artistic Staff, to House Management, to the patrons of the theater.
