Hi, my name is Emma! For the past two years, I have been working as a legal assistant. I am currently a Litigation Practice Assistant at Stoel Rives LLP. My primary responsibilities include preparing and filing legal documents such as discovery and motions, managing case files to ensure they are complete and organized, calendaring hearings and deadlines, handling administrative work, and overseeing the workflow of my teams. Throughout my time as a Legal Assistant, I have learned the importance of working collaboratively with a team and taking pride in your work. The work I do is vital to the success of our clients, and it is made possible through the knowledge and collaborative spirit I carry with me throughout my work day. I am also an alumni of Santa Clara University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in English (Creative Writing) and Philosophy with a Pre-Law emphasis. During my time at SCU, I worked for two years in Residence Life as a Community Facilitator. In this role, I served as a resource for residence hall students, planned events, and ensured the safety and security of the building. I was also a leading member of both the Mock Trial and Ethics Bowl teams, which allowed me to develop my argumentation, public speaking, and critical thinking skills while also teaching others. Lastly, I worked with the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics as a Hackworth Fellow, where I analyzed and addressed ethical issues on campus. Through my time as a Legal Assistant and my studies at SCU, I have found a passion for helping others by leaving a positive impact on the world around me. My background in ethics and law combined with my work in Residence Life has allowed me to do that on Santa Clara’s campus, and my current role as a Legal Assistant and Paralegal has given me a chance to continue that work in the early stages of my career.
