Music is such a special universal language and I feel very privileged to be able to use my interpretation on a daily basis. Singing teaching is such a large and fascinating field- the more I learn the more I uncover. I am continually researching new developments and ensuring that my students get the best I can offer. Students have different goals and I love helping them to grow, whether this is for an exam, performance or another type of personal goal. The Cuckoo Tree was a special opera project for Frome Festival involving children and adults of all abilities from the local schools and educational establishments. Adapted with permission from a story by Joan Aiken, with music by composers Rachel Stott, the performances were incredibly moving and beautiful. I was involved with planning meetings with the director and creative team prior to the project and assisted the director during rehearsals. I contributed to the creative output giving… Show more The Cuckoo Tree was a special opera project for Frome Festival involving children and adults of all abilities from the local schools and educational establishments. Adapted with permission from a story by Joan Aiken, with music by composers Rachel Stott, the performances were incredibly moving and beautiful. I was involved with planning meetings with the director and creative team prior to the project and assisted the director during rehearsals. I contributed to the creative output giving some additional musical and movement instructions to children and adults of all ages. Come the performances I had to timetable who had which mic packs when, follow the score and ready and queue the performers/crew (over headsets) while also dealing with unexpected issues such as getting wheel chairs onto ramps and administering first aid to a young performer with a nose bleed moments before he was due to go on stage and sing.During this time I also got to work with Jason Thornton as he conducted the orchestra which comprised of members of the Bath Philharmonia orchestra alongside local school children.The project was a complete sell out, gaining wonderful reviews. I am very proud in the small part I played in bringing this project and work to life and still receive occasional updates from those involved. Show less
